(B) The boards of township trustees of any two or more townships, or the legislative authorities of any two or more political subdivisions, or any combination of these, may, through joint action, unite in the joint purchase, lease, lease with an option to purchase, maintenance, use, and operation of fire equipment described in division (A) of this section, or for any other purpose designated in sections 505.37 to 505.42 of the Revised Code, and may prorate the expense of the joint action on any terms that are mutually agreed upon. When two or more political subdivisions jointly own, control, or manage a volunteer fire department, this section shall apply, at the discretion of the legislative authority of such subdivisions. The board of township trustees may, in any year, levy a sufficient tax upon all taxable property in the township or in a fire district, to provide protection against fire, to provide fire and rescue services, to provide and maintain fire apparatus, mechanical resuscitators, underwater rescue and recovery equipment, and other fire equipment and appliances, buildings and sites therefor, sources of water supply and materials therefor, to establish and maintain lines of fire-alarm communications, and to pay permanent, part-time, or volunteer fire-fighting companies to operate such equipment. If a collector's vehicle meets all of the criteria contained in division (E) of this section, a board of township trustees, in accordance with division (A) of this section, may regulate the storage of that motor vehicle on private or public property in the same manner that the board may regulate the storage of any other junk motor vehicle and, in case of a violation of this section, may pursue any remedy provided by law, including any remedy provided in division (B) of this section. Charges collected under this section shall be kept in a separate fund designated as the ambulance and emergency medical services fund, and shall be appropriated and administered by the board.
